wow okay. so my first night here is pretty overwhelming. my host family speaks NO ENGLISH which is totally cool and will helpful to me in the future, i know that, but it was just so overwhelming and i felt so awful coming into someones house and barely being able to communicate with them, let alone even asking how their day was. usually i’m super chatty and personable but this is certainly going to be a challenge. but i will rock the crap out of it and become as fluently french as possible because i love learning and languages and communicating. thank god this couple has a good sense of humor. makes everything so much easier and almost makes me feel like my lack of language skills is redeemable. my roommates seem alright so far too. both pretty reserved and MUCH better at speaking french than i am which is pretty intimidating but at the same time make me think “oh you think you’re good at french? yeah well WATCH OUT” because I can be terribley competitive. other than that this town is b-e-a-u-tiful. seriously uh-mazing. i can’t remember the last time i was so overtaken by the beautiful of a landscape since I was in Greece. I cannot WAIT to explore. typically i’d write something like this in my journal but for some reason this can be more gratifying at times.
ALSO theres a dude here who looks, and i am NOT lying/exaggerating, like ryan gosling. *died*. and hes got all these backpacks and looks super adorable. hopefully he’s in my class level. probs wont be though. derp.
anywhooooooooo i’m probs going to go to bed now and just cry all my overwhelming feelings out. it’s been a long day. bon nuit.
